Let’s hit the ground running in 2018!

And just like that, it’s a new year! I don’t know about you, but I feel so excited about this year I can hardly contain myself. I think it’s because I am so focused on all the opportunity the new year can bring for us to achieve together.

It’s a time for planning, for changing the game, and for making commitments to ourselves and each other. Last week, we shared our CenterEdge partnership commitments, so thanks everyone for all the warm comments. Just like I’m sure you are, we’ve hit the ground running with some New Year’s Resolutions of our own. Here are just a few that we know will stick all through 2018.

No. 1: We’ll set meaningful goals.

Let’s forgo the obligatory weight loss resolution that we have no intention of keeping, shall we? How about instead we only set new goals that are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound). We’ll make sure that we have a laser focus on what we want to accomplish while keeping our clients’ best interest at heart. And we’ll make sure we are always aligned with our core values every step of the way.

No. 2: We’ll see you more places!

We want to be your partner in industry education and have decided to sponsor some great educational events that we’d love for you to attend as our guest. Be on the lookout periodically for invitations in our weekly blogs.

These educational events are packed with seminars about expanding your offerings, growing your business, operating more effectively, providing wow experiences, and more! While these events happen throughout the year, the first of 2018 is coming up soon. Check them out and let us know if there’s one or more you’d be interested in attending with free registration.

January 30, 2018 (Orlando, FL – in advance of Birthday University)

Maximize profits through Operational Excellence, where our friends at FunStruction Results deliver a packed one-day agenda that takes operators on a deep dive into effective labor controls, guest service and cash control. This event will offer immediate takeaways that you can implement in your facility.

Birthday University: Long known as the birthday party expert, Frank Price shares the ins and outs of creating and delivering the most memorable birthday experience. This two-day session includes information on concept, recruiting, packaging and flow. You’ll come away excited to build a program in your facility that’s second to none.

February 6-7, 2018 (Indianapolis, IN)

LaserTAG 360: Hosted by Creative Works, this is a session to attend if you’re looking to add the “wow effect” to the look and feel of your facility,  add up-and-coming attractions, or to get the most from your existing laser tag attraction. The event allows you to learn about every aspect of laser tag, attractions like escape rooms and virtual reality, and operational tips and tricks.

February 25-26, 2018 (Las Vegas, NV – in advance of Amusement Expo)

Foundations Entertainment University: Led by top industry leaders, this event provides a complete blueprint for new operators, or anyone interested in expanding or renovating an existing location-based entertainment facility. They’ll share the do’s and don’ts they’ve learned to help you avoid common expansion mistakes.

No. 3: We’ll be a learning organization (and you should too)!

We’re always reading to learn and grow and encourage you to do the same. We often get asked what we’re reading, and thought it would be a great time to share a few of the books that have impacted us lately:

The First 90 Days: Critical Success Strategies for New Leaders and All Levels, by Michael Watkins. This book has been around a long time, but is especially great for new leaders, or for leaders looking to strengthen the skills necessary for navigating change.

Gen Z @ Work: How the Next Generation is Transforming the Workforce, by David and Jonah Stillman. The next generation is here, and they’re different. If you hope to get the most from your team, start by understanding them.

Give and Take: Why Helping Others Drives Our Success, by Adam Grant. This book is full of examples of successful people who give more of themselves, and offers insight into how to climb to the top of the success ladder.

Navigate 2.0, Selling the Way People Like to Buy, by Dustin Hillis and Steve Reiner. This is a great sales manual that will help anyone in sales (which let’s face it, is all of us) improve through empathy and understanding our buyer enough to give them information the way they need to receive it.

Read This Before Our Next Meeting, by Al Pittampalli. This is a great tool to help you identify your organization’s biggest impediments to effectiveness and meaningful work.

No. 4: We’ll offer you more tools.

More blogs! More tips! More videos! More documentation! We’re committed to providing you with more of what you need to be successful in your business. In fact, one tool we’ll be offering in June is a one-day Sales and Marketing Workshop in Raleigh, in advance of Birthday University, so more info to come in the coming months! Bottom line, let’s get ready for an outstanding new year!

What about you? What resolutions do you have for your facility? And how can we help you turn them into a reality? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter!
